At the beginning of the week, Serbian nationalists attacked soldiers of the NATO peacekeeping force KFOR in northern Kosovo. The conflict between Serbia and Kosovo, which has been smoldering for years, threatens to escalate again. Behind it is also: Russia.
While Russia’s propaganda machine is still celebrating the drone strikes on Kiev, warlord Vladimir Putin may have been even happier about another success. He scored it far from Ukraine, in the middle of Europe, in northern Kosovo. He doesn’t have a military station there. It was Serbian nationalists who attacked soldiers of the NATO peacekeeping force Kfor with Molotov cocktails and shots from rifles, injuring 30 of them, some seriously. However, Putin can certainly claim the escalation of violence in the Balkans as a stage victory in his campaign against the West – which he would like to weaken wherever possible.
