Germans choose the FDP as the winner in the heating dispute – according to a Stern poll

It was a grueling argument about the heating law. For weeks, the Liberals kept the Republic in suspense and annoyed the Greens. But Christian Lindner’s calculations have apparently worked out. The Germans choose the FDP as the winner of the dispute.

According to the Germans in the traffic light coalition, the FDP was the most likely to prevail in the long debate about the so-called heating law. According to a Forsa survey for the star, 32 percent of citizens see it that way. 20 percent see a success for the Greens and only 12 percent for the SPD. However, 36 percent do not dare to make an assessment or express their opinion.

The evaluation of party supporters shows that the calculation of the FDP to escalate the issue has paid off, at least from the point of view of activating their own clientele. According to this, 52 percent of FDP voters say that their party has prevailed. This is the highest value for the respective trailers of the traffic light. Only 27 percent of the Greens voters believe that their own party has prevailed. Just as many see a success for the FDP. Just 19 percent of SPD supporters see their own party as a success. Another detail is interesting: The voters of the Union courted by Christian Lindner also see a success for the FDP: 44 percent of the supporters of the CDU/CSU state that the Liberals have won on points.

The data was collected by the market and opinion research institute forsa for the RTL Group Germany on June 15 and 16, 2023. Database: 1,006 respondents. Statistical error tolerance: +/- 3 percentage points.
