Protests against 3G compulsory in Trieste and Milan

The demonstrators demanded the abolition of the so-called Green Pass. This means proof of a corona vaccination, a negative test or a recovery. The certificate has been required in Italy since October 15, among other things, in order to be able to go to work.

According to the police, more than 8,000 people demonstrated in Trieste, where there had been repeated protests against the 3G obligation in the past few weeks. The police kept the demonstrators away from the main square “Piazza Unitá d Italia”, where demonstrations have been banned this week. The reason: In the past few weeks, the number of infections in Trieste has risen sharply as a result of the demonstrations, the authorities said. The authorities unsuccessfully called on the demonstrators to wear face masks and to keep their distance.

In Milan, too, there was another protest rally in the city center. It was the 16th Saturday in a row that protests were made against the 3G obligation. City center businesspeople complained of a heavy loss of income due to the weekly protests, in which thousands of people take part. The Mayor of Milan Giuseppe Sala also condemned the protests.

Since the extension of the Green Pass to the world of work in mid-October, there had been repeated violent protests in Italy. In Trieste, for example, opponents of the regulation temporarily besieged access to the port.
