Violence and shouts of “Sieg Heil” in Görlitz: the Saxon police are called to an operation – and then attacked themselves. An arrest warrant has been issued for a 35-year-old man.
Several men attacked a couple in their apartment in Görlitz, Saxony, and later attacked the police while shouting “Sieg Heil”. First, four male perpetrators beat up a 34-year-old and a 27-year-old in the apartment and fled, the police said.
When alarmed officials took up the case in the apartment on Friday evening, the group returned and attacked the police officers. According to a police spokesman, the group called out “Sieg Heil” and gave the Hitler salute. One of the men threatened officers with a knife.
Even when reinforcements from the federal police arrived, the group continued to attack the officers. Several police officers were slightly injured. A total of two youths and two men aged 13, 16, 18 and 35 and a 39-year-old woman were identified. Another suspect escaped.
An arrest warrant was issued against the 35-year-old, who, according to initial findings, is considered a ringleader. It is being investigated for aggravated robbery in conjunction with predatory extortion and an assault on law enforcement officials and the use of license plates of unconstitutional organizations. The police initially gave no further information on the background to the attack.
