The allegations are of abuse of authority, corruption and bribery, it said on Wednesday afternoon in a WKStA broadcast.
In summary, “the accused public official” is accused of having requested, accepted or promised donations to the association “S2Arch” in order to influence the realization of various real estate projects in Vienna and to bring about the respective resolutions on these projects. The other defendants are said to have made these association donations. The fact that the official named is a canon himself was not confirmed in the WKStA on APA request.
The indictment was brought in after the corresponding project report had been approved by the Vienna Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Ministry of Justice and after referring to the “instruction council”, which had raised no objection to the WKStA’s project.
The range of punishment for the offenses accused of the accused is – depending on the amount of the requested, accepted or granted advantage – six months to five years imprisonment, if the value of the advantage is more than 50,000 euros even up to ten years imprisonment.
In parts there were attitudes, including against other accused. In total there were originally 50 (around half of them associations), according to the public prosecutor. There were already three hires in 2020, and in May 2021 there were further hires against four natural persons and four associations – partly due to the statute of limitations.
