Ever since Russia let the grain agreement with Ukraine expire, many countries have been concerned about their supplies. Now President Zelenskyi has said how Ukraine intends to continue selling grain to the world.
Because of the blockade of the Black Sea ports by Russia, Ukraine is working intensively on developing alternative export routes for grain, according to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. “We are doing everything possible to ensure that Ukraine continues to be a guarantor of food security,” said Zelenskyy on Friday. The people of Ukraine also need access to world markets.
The President reported in Kiev that he had discussed the issue with the heads of the army, the secret service and the Navy, as well as government officials. In mid-July, Russia withdrew its security guarantees for Ukrainian grain exports via the Black Sea. Moscow then tried to destroy the infrastructure for such exports with air raids on ports such as Odessa. Ukrainian ports on the Danube, through which an alternative route runs, were also attacked.
Grain exports from Ukraine difficult
Transporting grain, corn, fertilizer and other agricultural products by rail or truck is more complicated and expensive than shipping. Ukraine has been fighting off a Russian invasion for almost a year and a half.
