Planned health insurance premium reduction brings up to 300 euros

This emerges from the present calculations by Agenda Austria. Data from the Momentum Institute see a maximum effect of up to 270 euros.

The measure planned by the government provides that the health insurance contributions for lower incomes will be reduced by up to 1.7 percentage points of the general contribution base (depending on the income level). For those insured with the ASVG, this means, for example, that with a monthly income of up to EUR 1,100, the contribution rate drops from the current 3.87 percent to 2.17 percent. At the highest level (between 2,400 and 2,500 euros) the reduction is 0.2 percentage points. If you earn more than 2,500 euros, the contributions remain the same.

According to the calculations by Agenda Austria, the measure means that gross monthly incomes of EUR 1,000 will be relieved by EUR 238 net per year. With an income of 1,500 euros, the reduction brings about 258 euros annually, with an income of 2,000 euros, around 217 euros. Just below the limit of 2,500 euros, above which the contributions remain the same, the effect drops to below 50 euros per year. Agenda Austria sees the maximum effect at around 300 euros with an income of 1,750 euros.

The calculations of the Momentum Institute brought similar values: With an income of 1,000 euros, the relief brings around 240 euros, at 1,500 euros you benefit from the measure with around 260 euros, at 2,000 euros with around 200 euros and just under 2,500 income with around 50 euros . The Momentum Institute calculates the maximum relief at 272 euros for incomes of 1,700 euros.
