Donald Trump allegations: Woman threatens to kill judge

Former US President Donald Trump is defending himself against his four charges not only legally, but also with threats and incitement – ​​and his supporters are apparently following suit. A woman has been arrested in Texas for allegedly threatening to kill federal judge Tanya Chutkan. The 61-year-old is leading Trump’s trial in Washington over his attempts to overturn the outcome of the 2020 presidential election, including events surrounding the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the US Capitol.

Abigail S. is accused by prosecutors of calling federal court in the US capital, where Chutkan has her office, two days after the indictment against Trump, US media report, citing court documents. The 43-year-old left a voice message there calling the Jamaican-born justice representative a “stupid black slave” and threatening that Chutkan would be “targeted personally, publicly, her family, everything.”

“We have our sights on you, we want to kill you,” S. is said to have warned the judge. “If Trump isn’t elected in 2024, we’re coming to kill you, so be careful, bitch.”

The suspect also allegedly threatened to kill Democratic Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee of Houston, Texas, who, like Chutkan, is of African American descent. She is also said to have made threats against other unnamed members of the Democratic Party and against the LGBTQ community.

According to media reports, S. admitted the call to agents of Homeland Security, the United States agency for internal security. However, she explained that she had not planned to travel to Washington or Houston to carry out any of her threats. After the court found that the Trump supporter had been charged four times in the past year in similar cases, the woman was remanded in Texas.

Trump trial jury threatened on far-right websites

The upcoming trial in Georgia against Trump and 18 of his supporters for attempted electoral theft has also brought suspected supporters of the ex-president to the scene. Just a few hours before Abigail S.’s arrest, the names and addresses of the jurors in the Georgia trial were posted on ultra-right websites – including threats of violence, reports the media analysis center Media Matters for America.

Unlike many other states, Georgia jurors’ identities are public to keep criminal proceedings transparent. In the right-wing forums, including a message board that is the home of “Q”, the central figure of the QAnon conspiracy theory, users have now published the alleged addresses of the jury members and their alleged online appearances in addition to the names, writes Media Matters. And in another forum, a user threatened to “follow these people home and photograph their faces.”

Some users would have threatened the jury even more clearly. One forum user wrote that the jury names were a “hit list,” to which someone replied, “Good luck Anons, you have all the sniper rifles in the world.” Another user insulted the jury racist and as “treacherous fuckers”. And one had warned that they were “interfering with the election” and therefore “should be really careful”.

In addition, users snooped on the jurors’ online appearances and posted images of their alleged social media appearances as alleged evidence of their anti-Trump bias, the media analysts said. In addition, users tried to determine the ethnic and religious backgrounds of the jury members.

The public prosecutor’s office in Washington had requested a protective order from the court almost two weeks ago. After Trump threatened in capital letters on his online service Truth Social at his Aug. 3 hearing, “If you follow me, I will follow you,” Special Counsel Jack Smith filed a motion to review the defendant’s ability to disclose sensitive information about restrict reference to witnesses.

With his posting, Trump also ignored the court’s express warning to intimidate witnesses or obstruct justice.
