For months, the dispute in the traffic light coalition about basic child security has been smoldering. Family Minister Paus defends her draft, but details are missing. And questions from journalists are not allowed.
Federal Family Minister Lisa Paus has resisted criticism that there is no concept for her planned basic child security. “The cornerstones and thus the concept of my ministry have been available since January,” said the Green politician at a press conference in Berlin.
“To still read that there is no concept for basic child security is simply wrong. It also denies the work of all those who have put an incredible amount of energy into this government’s most important socio-political project over the past few weeks and months.”
Paus did not give any details about the design. Questions from journalists were not allowed after her short statement. She emphasized: “I am convinced that I have presented a bill that will ensure that families and children who need help actually receive it. And that’s why I’m optimistic that we will soon adopt the bill in the cabinet.”
Quarrels have been smoldering for months
For months, the dispute in the traffic light coalition about basic child security has been smoldering, with which Paus wants to combine services for families and at the same time increase them. Before the summer break, Scholz asked the minister to draw up a draft law by the end of August. According to Paus, it is now available to the Chancellery and the Federal Ministry of Finance.
The FDP is critical of performance improvements. Against this background, Paus had blocked the so-called Growth Opportunities Act by Federal Finance Minister Christian Lindner (FDP) in the cabinet on Wednesday. This is a legislative package with tax policy measures intended to relieve the economy by around 6.5 billion euros a year.
