Health Minister Wolfgang Mckstein (Grne) described the vaccine deliveries as an important contribution to combating the pandemic. “Austria must also do its part here and pass on vaccination doses to those countries that need them most urgently. We are in the fortunate position of having sufficient vaccines,” said Mckstein.
So far, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ukraine, Georgia, Tunisia, Lebanon, Iran and Costa Rica as well as Bosnia-Herzegovina have received bilateral support. India was helped with an aid delivery of antiviral drugs, oxygen bottles and oxygen glasses. In addition, Austria is promoting the international COVAX AMC program with five million euros and almost one million doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, which can currently be dispensed with in Austria, according to the broadcast.
