The leaflet affair about Bavaria’s Economics Minister Hubert Aiwanger never ends. On Thursday, Aiwanger canceled an appointment at short notice. It is not yet clear whether further dates will be cancelled.

Bavaria’s Economics Minister Hubert Aiwanger (free voters) canceled an appointment at short notice on Thursday. According to information from star an appointment planned for 10 a.m. at Proton Motor Fuel Cell in Fürstenfeldbrück was spontaneously canceled at 9.30 a.m. During the visit, a new production site should be presented. Again star found out, the local police knew nothing about the cancellation. It was initially unclear why the appointment was canceled.

According to Aiwangers, three more appointments are planned for Thursday. It is currently still unclear whether the Free Voters boss will take this into account. The dates also include a speech at the opening of the folk festival in Aschau im Chiemgau.

Hubert Aiwanger under pressure in the leaflet affair

On Saturday, Aiwanger had denied in writing that he had written an anti-Semitic leaflet as a student in the 1980s that the “Süddeutsche Zeitung” had reported on. At the same time, however, he admitted that “one or a few copies” were found in his school bag. Shortly thereafter, Aiwanger’s older brother confessed to having written the pamphlet. Bavaria’s Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU), who governs together with the Free Voters, asked Aiwanger on Tuesday to answer 25 questions about the allegations in writing in a timely manner. A new state parliament will be elected in Bavaria on October 8th.
