Nancy Faeser not in a short-term meeting of the Interior Committee

In the case of the controversial dismissal of cybersecurity chief Arne Schönbohm by Nancy Faeser, the Bundestag Interior Committee still has to make do without clarifying statements from the Federal Minister of the Interior: Fiber was represented at a short-term meeting on the topic.

Federal Interior Minister Nancy Faeser (SPD) did not attend the short-term meeting of the Bundestag Interior Committee on the controversial dismissal of cybersecurity chief Arne Schönbohm. A spokesman for the Federal Ministry of the Interior said that Faeser was represented at the meeting on Thursday morning by a Parliamentary State Secretary. In the early afternoon, Faeser was expected to attend the debate about her department’s budget in the plenary session of the Bundestag.

The deputy committee chairman Lars Castellucci (SPD) invited people to the committee meeting on Wednesday afternoon. The only item on the agenda that can be found on Parliament’s website is a report by the minister on the Schönbohm case. First the “world” had reported about it.

Schönbohm is demanding damages for Nancy Faeser’s dismissal

Faeser dismissed Schönbohm as head of the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) last year. He therefore demands compensation.

On Tuesday, Faeser canceled her participation in a meeting of the Interior Committee. The CDU and CSU then called for another meeting to catch up with the minister’s questioning. The traffic light coalition rejected this. According to the rules of procedure of the Bundestag, however, a convocation at the earliest possible date is obligatory “if a parliamentary group in the committee or at least one third of the members of the committee requests it, stating the agenda”.
