Tonight the ARD is showing the political documentary “Ernstfall”. The award-winning author Stephan Lamby speaks in star-Interview about his new film, the Chancellor’s openness and Christian Lindner’s meanness.
Mr. Lamby, you have been making political documentaries for 25 years. For 16 years, some of your films have been about Chancellor Angela Merkel. Now you have made “Ernstfall”, the first in which Chancellor Olaf Scholz plays a leading role. As an author, how do you experience the difference?
Serious. My approach to Olaf Scholz and his government is completely different than to Angela Merkel. Although I was able to interview the Chancellor frequently, she was more reserved than Scholz.
Oh! Scholz is not exactly known for his open-hearted communication.
In the nearly two years of this project, I interviewed him six times. Sometimes shorter, sometimes longer, he was always willing. Merkel took part, Scholz got involved.
