Investigations against Kurz can continue

Shortly after resigning as Federal Chancellor and moving to the National Council, he was protected by parliamentary immunity. It is now possible to re-investigate him because of the allegation of infidelity and false testimony.

The basis for the decision had already been laid in the immunity committee on Tuesday. Kurz himself had repeatedly emphasized that he was interested in a speedy clear-up. He rejected the allegations in connection with the polls / advertising affair and his testimony in the parliamentary U-Committee that he had not been criminally guilty of anything.

The National Council also gave its OK to investigations with FPÖ General Secretary Michael Schnedlitz. Freedom and NEOS voted against it because they see a connection with the parliamentary activities of the FPÖ mandate. The Vienna Public Prosecutor’s Office is investigating him for incitement to post in the Leonie case.
