The Economic and Corruption Public Prosecutor’s Office (WKStA) had requested the “extradition” of the now VP Club Chairman.
The WKStA can thus resume the two strands of investigation against Kurz. The VP advertisement affair is about the suspicion that from 2016 onwards, through the mediation of Thomas Schmid (at that time Secretary General in the Ministry of Finance), partly fudged surveys were published in “Austria”, about Kurz ?? Paving the way for promotion to the Chancellery. The finance department is said to have taken over the payment via bogus bills. The judiciary leads Kurz here as a “determined offender”.
The second case is about the allegation of the ex-Chancellor’s false statement in the Ibiza-U-Committee about his role in Schmid’s appointment as ÖBAG boss. In both cases, Kurz denies any culpable behavior.
