She was sentenced to a fine in July, and Thunberg is now due back in court. It’s about an unauthorized demonstration.
The Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg has to answer in court again for a protest. Swedish prosecutors said they had filed charges against a young woman who took part in a climate demonstration in Malmö on July 24.
Prosecutor Isabel Ekberg explained that the demonstration was not authorized and resulted in car traffic being blocked. The woman refused to follow police orders and leave the place. She acted intentionally.
The public prosecutor’s office confirmed to the German Press Agency in Scandinavia that the woman was 20-year-old Thunberg. The new hearing against her in the Malmö District Court is now expected to take place on September 27th.
Thunberg was fined in Malmö on July 24 for failing to follow police instructions during a protest in June. Thunberg admitted taking part in the protest and ignoring police instructions. However, she denied that it was a crime. A few hours after the conviction, she took part in another protest – the same one for which she now has to appear in court again.
