A famous actress has been arrested again in Iran. Hanieh Tavassoli was taken to an unknown location on Saturday evening, the newspaper “Etemad” reported, citing her sister.
It was initially unclear which security agency took the actress into custody. The reason for her arrest was also unknown.
Meanwhile, Tavassoli’s Instagram presence with her two million followers could not be reached. The well-known actress boycotted a state film festival in Tehran in February.
As a result of the wave of protests led by women in autumn 2022, several actresses who had shown solidarity with the movement found themselves in the crosshairs of the judiciary.
