Former Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz is hoping for Friedrich Merz as chancellor after the next federal election. “In the end, the voters always decide, but I would like him, the CDU and of course the Federal Republic of Germany to become the next German chancellor,” Kurz told Dem star.

From his point of view, Merz and the CDU have “the best answers to the great challenges of our time, be it climate change, inflation or socio-political questions.”

A few days ago, Kurz publicly praised the CDU’s new brand design. Some observers thought that the turquoise blue color scheme was reminiscent of the appearance of the ÖVP under Sebastian Kurz, which had used a similar color at the time.

“Of course, the most important things are always the topics and content that a party promotes,” Kurz told the star. “The CDU is a modern bourgeois party and I think the new color expresses that well.” Kurz fell into investigations into possible false statements and manipulated surveys in 2021.

The CDU had given itself a new color and a new logo at the beginning of the week. After 50 years, the three letters CDU are again black instead of red, and the basic color is a light turquoise blue.
