Two Italian tourists are said to have given the Hitler salute at the Oktoberfest in Munich. As the police announced on Thursday, the two 24-year-old men filmed themselves with their cell phones and were cheered on by their companions.
The two men were temporarily arrested. On the same evening, a 19-year-old from Munich also gave a Hitler salute in a festival tent, it said. He then hit a 47-year-old at the next table in the face with his fist, causing his lip to bleed. The aggressive 19-year-old was taken to the Wiesnwache.
All three men were charged with using the symbols of unconstitutional organizations. Since the two Italians do not have a permanent residence in Germany, the Munich public prosecutor’s office ordered them to be transferred to pre-trial detention.
