Nearly two dozen Americans are among the 1,200 deaths caused by Hamas’ terrorist attack in Israel. More US citizens are missing.
The number of Americans killed in attacks by Islamist Hamas terrorists in Israel has risen to at least 22, according to the US State Department. “At this point in time we can confirm the deaths of at least 22 US citizens,” a spokesman for the ministry told the German Press Agency in Washington. Washington had previously reported at least 14 dead US citizens.
The White House spokeswoman said 17 US citizens were still missing. US President Joe Biden said on Tuesday that Americans were also among the Hamas hostages. There were initially no further details. National Security Council communications director John Kirby said everything would be done to bring the abducted US nationals home.
