After Hamas terror: Another Bundeswehr plane takes Germans on board in Israel

The Bundeswehr is directly involved in getting German citizens out of Israel. Three Air Force aircraft are already back in Germany and another military transporter has landed in Israel.

On Sunday, the Bundeswehr sent another plane to bring back German nationals to Israel. The A400M military transporter landed in Tel Aviv around 6:30 p.m., the operational command announced in the evening on X, formerly Twitter. The reception of passengers has begun.

It is the fourth Bundeswehr aircraft to fly to Israel. Around 160 people had already been brought back to Germany on the three previous flights, as the Foreign Office and the Defense Ministry announced in the afternoon. Two planes landed at the military airfield in Wunstorf, Lower Saxony, in the morning and one in Berlin in the afternoon.

In the event of a deterioration in the situation, the Bundeswehr is also ready for a military evacuation, the two ministries said in a statement. Further preparatory measures would be taken. The crisis team also decided to strengthen the crisis support teams already deployed to the region.

About a week after Hamas’ terrorist attacks on Israel, the Bundeswehr is immediately involved in getting German citizens out of Israel – while the army there is preparing a large-scale attack on the Gaza Strip controlled by the militant Islamists. In the past few days, the Foreign Office had already helped around 2,800 German citizens and family members leave the country, most of whom had returned on special Lufthansa flights.
