If the rhythm of the usual discussions about corona measures is correct, then it should only be a matter of time before the vaccination is mandatory. That is good and right. But also sad that the state has to resort to such means.
Some statements from just a year ago now sound like echoes from another time. At the end of December 2020, Interior Minister Horst Seehofer announced: “As important as vaccination is for all of us: No special treatment for vaccinated people!” Vaccination privileges, it was not only heard from him, were ugh and should be rejected, if only because they divided society. But with the introduction of the 2G rule at the latest, they have become part of everyday life and are welcomed by the majority of people. Mainly because a largely unrestricted life is not a special right, but the norm – or at least it should be.
Compulsory vaccination through the front door
Some other statements not only sound like from times long past, but were still considered an irrevocable mantra until a few weeks ago. Like the bad word about the “compulsory vaccination”. Until late summer it was usually used with the addition “through the back door”, but since the incidence has gone through the roof, the obligation to vaccinate knocks on every front door as a matter of course. Following the rhythm of the usual discussions about corona measures, it should only be a matter of time before it actually occurs. That is a good thing and right, but it is also sad that the state has to resort to such means.
Now it is pointless to complain about how stupid or clumsy it was on the part of politicians to categorically exclude compulsory vaccination for a long time. Of course, it can only be the very last resort. Of course, such commitment creates defiance and distrust. Of course, it is better if people are convinced of the benefits of the syringe, or at least not defend themselves against it. It works very well in many corners of the world: in Israel, in Spain and Portugal, in Japan. Only in German-speaking countries does it jam and pinch everywhere. No wonder that Lothar Wieler, the otherwise mildly tempered head of the Robert Koch Institute recently broke the collar.
Be considerate of your surroundings
During a video conference with members of the Saxon state government, he complained that “after 21 months, he could simply no longer bear the fact that what I was saying, among other things, and many other colleagues, was not recognized.” It was probably not by chance that he did this in front of the representatives of this stubborn race with the. Whereby – 57.8 percent of Saxony vaccinated twice also shows: the majority of the people there understand that with a vaccination they are not only considerate of themselves, but also of their partners, parents and children, their friends and neighbors.
Unfortunately, these almost 57.8 percent are not enough to contain the virus. Just as little as the 73 percent vaccinated from Schleswig-Holstein, and probably not even the almost 80 percent from the vaccinating state of Bremen. Obviously, no persuasions, appeals for solidarity or medical facts help – who after almost two years of global pandemic with millions and millions of corona deaths and infected people, countless long-covid sufferers and burned-out medical staff (and, incidentally, after 7.5 billion vaccines administered) still pretends none of this has anything to do with his business, and would then finally be held responsible. And they put themselves into this situation in the first place.
As urgently as compulsory vaccination has unfortunately become, by the way, also with regard to a possible fifth wave, the implementation is still completely open. And also whether it is constitutional. Presumably, however, vaccination refusals would be asked to pay. The carefree, ventilated variant, that health department employees go through the streets with cashes and ram the syringe into the arm of everyone who has no evidence, will of course not exist. That would be – and it is neither practicable nor imaginable for the advocates of tough corona measures.
