Watch the video: Retired Colonel Ralph Thiele assesses the situation between and Hamas.
Thiele is not only chairman of the Political-Military Society, but also former chief of staff at the NATO Defense College and former director at the Bundeswehr Leadership Academy. He still considers the Israeli army to be one of the strongest and best-armed armies in the world, but sees no short-term chances of success in the fight against Hamas.
- The fight against Hamas will take years for Israel
- It is not possible to dismantle Hamas without harming the civilian population
- The Israeli army will probably have to capture and search grid square by grid square in the Gaza Strip
Why is it so easy to attack? You had a feeling of superiority and thought that the others didn’t dare.
How strong is that?
Israel has over 500,000 men and women. They will pick maybe 10,000 from the portfolio.
One of the variants is to divide the area into squares and do them one after the other. I assume we will see an interaction between air forces, naval forces, special forces and drones.
How can be defeated? They would have to be decoupled from the population. As long as the population cooperates, Hamas will be difficult, if not impossible, to defeat.
