Upper Austria starts vaccination for children

In Upper Austria, a vaccination campaign for children will start tomorrow, Friday. For three days there will be the opportunity at several locations to have children between the ages of five and twelve years vaccinated. Up to 2000 vaccinations are offered from Friday to Sunday. Even with EMA approval, it is still an “off label” use of the vaccine for the time being; national approval is based on recommendations from the National Vaccination Committee and the Ministry of Health.

Three days of vaccination

The vaccination offers for children:

  • November 26th: Salzkammergut-Klinikum Vöcklabruck, children’s group practice in the Klinikum Kirchdorf, Hospital Barmherzige Schwestern Ried (all only with registration)
  • November 27: Primary Care Center Enns, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., without registration, vaccination streets of the Red Cross in Schärding, Linz and Steyr (with registration)
  • November 28: Impfstraße of the Red Cross Linz, with registration

The reservation for children has been used around 2,600 times so far, the legal guardians were informed by SMS about vaccination options, 700 had registered by Wednesday. Further offers will be presented after EMA approval. Vaccinations are also possible with resident doctors by appointment

In Vienna and Tyrol, parents of children between the ages of five and twelve have been able to opt for the vaccination since the previous week. A third of the adult dose is used in this age group.
