Assif Pegel lost his mother in the Hamas terrorist attack – 19 years ago it was his sister who fell victim to terrorists. His uncle died in the Yom Kippur War. What does so much suffering and unhappiness do to a family?

Every time the missile alarm sirens sounded, he could count on his mother, Tami, to call shortly afterwards. “Are you all safe? Did you make it to the shelter?”
But on that October 7th there was no call. Assif Pegel immediately sensed that something was wrong. Hamas terrorists shot Tami and her partner Eitan in their home in Kibbutz Kfar Aza in southern Israel. At the same time, not far away, Assif and his wife had barricaded themselves in their shelter with kitchen knives in their hands with their two-and-a-half-year-old son. Since then nothing has been as it once was.
