Israel has rejected reports that it is recalling its ambassador to Bahrain and the Bahraini ambassador to Israel. A spokesman for the Foreign Ministry in Jerusalem said there was “no communication or decision from the government in Bahrain and the Israeli government to recall the countries’ ambassadors.” Relations between the two countries are stable. The Foreign Ministry in Bahrain did not initially comment.
The Bahraini parliament had previously announced that the Gulf state had recalled its ambassador. The Israeli ambassador has left the kingdom. All economic relations with Israel would therefore be stopped. Bahrain reiterated its “firm support for the Palestinian cause,” it said. The Foreign Ministry in Bahrain initially did not comment on the Israeli denial.
