Parties: Investigations continue for a month after the Chrupalla incident

AfD leader Tino Chrupalla had to go to hospital at an election campaign event in Ingolstadt. He speaks of an attack; investigators initially saw no evidence of an attack.

A good month after AfD leader Tino Chrupalla was treated in hospital in Ingolstadt, investigations into possible bodily harm are continuing. Above all, we are still waiting for the results of a forensic medical report, said a spokesman for the Ingolstadt public prosecutor’s office. “This could arrive over the next week.”

The public prosecutor’s office commissioned the report from the Institute for Forensic Medicine in Munich in order to clarify all open medical questions. The authority spokesman was unable to provide any interim information on witness interviews or the analysis of images from the scene of the incident.

Chrupalla was treated and taken to hospital before a planned speech in Ingolstadt on October 4th, a few days before the state elections in Bavaria. In the clinic he was temporarily monitored in the intensive care unit because of complaints.

Doctors found a puncture wound in Chrupalla’s upper right arm. Investigators initially saw no evidence of an attack. The AfD leader himself later said that an attack had been carried out on him. However, it remained unclear until the end when exactly and by whom Chrupalla was supposed to have been engraved.

According to initial investigations by the public prosecutor’s office, several people in Ingolstadt came close to Chrupalla to take selfies with him. Tests on his blood for a poison initially yielded no results.
