According to Israel, the Shifa Hospital serves as a Hamas command center. Immediately in front of it, an ambulance was attacked. According to Hamas, 13 people were killed. Were they terrorists?
Israel’s army says it has attacked an ambulance in the north of the Gaza Strip that it believes was used by Hamas. The army announced on Friday that several terrorists were killed. They said they had information that “Hamas’ approach is to transport terrorists and weapons in ambulances.”
The Hamas-controlled health ministry had previously said 13 people were killed and 26 others were injured in the attack. The authority claimed that wounded people were being transported to the border crossing so that they could be treated in Egypt. The information provided by both sides could not initially be independently verified.
The Health Ministry said the attack occurred outside the entrance to Shifa Hospital in Gaza City. The Israeli army said the area under fire was a “combat zone.” The military had repeatedly urged civilians to flee to the south for their own safety.
According to Israel, Shifa Hospital also serves as a Hamas command center. Israeli media recently reported, citing security circles, that Hamas is said to have concentrated around 30,000 people around the clinic so that they could serve as “human shields.”
