Middle East: Six dead after Israeli army operation in the West Bank

The Ministry of Health in Ramallah said the dead were between 21 and 32 years old. During the military operation in Tulkarm in the north of the Palestinian territory, 12 people were injured on Tuesday night, four of them seriously. The Israeli army said it was investigating the reports.

The Israeli army said suspected terrorists fired explosive devices at the emergency services during a raid. That’s why the military used an aircraft. Palestinian media reported that Palestinians were killed in both a drone strike and gunfire. The army said several attackers were killed in exchanges of fire with armed Palestinians. Soldiers arrested and questioned suspects during the raid.

A total of 188 Palestinians killed in the West Bank

The situation in the West Bank has worsened significantly since the war between Israel and the Islamist Hamas, which rules in the Gaza Strip, began on October 7th. A total of 188 Palestinians have been killed since then, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health. Since then, the army says it has arrested around 1,700 suspects in raids, including 950 with suspected ties to Hamas. There are also more reports of violence by Israeli settlers against Palestinians.

According to the authorities, 384 Palestinians have died in Israeli military operations in the West Bank, confrontations or their own attacks since the beginning of the year. According to human rights activists, it is the highest number in more than 15 years.
