Greta Thunberg appears in court in London for a hearing. A routine appointment for a young woman for whom routine has always meant turmoil. Observation of a bizarre performance.
Judge John Wall is confused. “There are people here who weren’t summoned at all, and some of those who were summoned didn’t show up. Can we clarify that?” The hearing for Greta Thunberg and co-accused gets off to a good start in Courtroom 1 at Westminster Magistrates Court.
Greta Thunberg, the star among the defendants, actually appeared. She and 25 other environmental activists are accused of violating public order by blocking access to an energy conference outside the Intercontinental Hotel in London on October 17.
