Gaza: Before and after – drone video shows extent of destruction (video)

Since the radical Islamic Hamas attack on Israel, there have been massive Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip. Numerous buildings were destroyed and thousands of people were killed. Drone videos document the extent of the destruction.

Humanitarian organizations have delivered tons of aid to the north of the territory during the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. These included ready meals, drinking water, tents and blankets as well as medicine, as the UN emergency relief office OCHA reported on Tuesday. Because of Israeli attacks and fighting with terrorist Palestinian organizations such as Hamas, they have not had access there for weeks. Despite Israeli calls to evacuate the north of the Gaza Strip, it is estimated that hundreds of thousands of people still remain there.

Fuel for electricity production and material for desalination plants, water pumping stations and a wastewater treatment plant were also delivered. They had been shut down in recent weeks due to a lack of electricity. The Shifa Hospital in the city of Gaza, which was partly badly damaged, has reopened its dialysis station for kidney patients with new fuel. Drinking water for the people in the south is supplied via two pipes from Israel, among other things.

Aid is also reaching the north of the Gaza Strip

According to Gaza authorities, more than 14,800 people have died in attacks in fighting since October 7 and until shortly before the ceasefire (November 23). This figure was given by OCHA, which does not independently verify the information. As of November 25, 75 Israeli soldiers had died in the Gaza Strip.

It is estimated that around 1.8 of the more than 2.2 million residents have been displaced by attacks and the destruction of their homes, it said. A good 1.1 million people have found refuge in facilities run by the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees in the Middle East (UNRWA). They are completely overcrowded, which is why diseases such as diarrhea, respiratory and skin infections spread there. Another 190,000 people camped in schools, ballrooms or community centers, the others were accommodated with host families. It is estimated that 46,000 homes were destroyed and more than 234,000 were damaged. That corresponds to a total of 60 percent of the living space.
