On February 16, 2023, Svetlana Sotova, 56, a housewife from Yaroslavl, northeast of Moscow, went to sleep early, plagued by a headache. She was home alone and her younger daughter was staying with a friend. Her older one, Valerija, was on the way.
Shortly before 1 a.m., Sotowa was woken up by a noise and a rumbling. A little later, about a dozen masked police officers stood in her apartment, a few right next to her bed.
