Extremism: Brandenburg: Terror suspect was known as a criminal

The 16-year-old arrested in Wittstock was already known for robbery and drug trafficking. He is suspected of planning a terrorist attack.

According to information from security circles, the terror suspect from Wittstock/Dosse in Brandenburg was known to be a criminal. The German Press Agency learned that he was already known for crimes such as robbery, extortion and in connection with drugs.

The Brandenburg Office for the Protection of the Constitution is said to have discovered him later. This then informed the Office for the Protection of the Constitution in North Rhine-Westphalia as well as the Office for the Protection of the Constitution of the states and the Federal Office.

The 16-year-old was arrested last Tuesday in Wittstock (Ostprignitz-Ruppin district). The Neuruppin district court issued an arrest warrant against him on Wednesday on strong suspicion of having planned and prepared a terrorist attack on the Internet with a young person in North Rhine-Westphalia.

The Leverkusen district court had also issued an arrest warrant against the other young person for planning and preparing an Islamist terrorist attack. According to the Düsseldorf Public Prosecutor’s Office, they agreed to kill visitors to a Christmas market in Leverkusen and planned the attack based on the goals and methods of the Islamic State (IS).

Both were taken into custody. The terrorist suspect from Wittstock is currently in the Brandenburg/Havel University Hospital. The “Märkische Allgemeine” had previously reported on it.
