Flood: NRW financial administration puts disaster decree into force

Dozens of people in North Rhine-Westphalia died as a result of the flood. The number of those who have lost their belongings is likely to be significantly higher. The state government wants to help them.

North Rhine-Westphalia’s financial administration has implemented a disaster decree to relieve the citizens affected by the storm. According to Friday’s announcement, more than 30 tax support measures are possible with the decree.

Business and private individuals can use special depreciation options for reconstruction. The replacement of household items and clothing and the repair of damage to owner-occupied residential property can also be considered as an extraordinary tax burden.

The tax offices should also accommodate the taxpayers concerned with deferrals of taxes and reduced advance payments. “With the measures from the disaster decree, we can help quickly and unbureaucratically where help is urgently needed. Direct support for affected citizens is our top priority, ”said Finance Minister Lutz Lienenkämper (CDU).
