The Israeli opposition leader accused UN Secretary-General António Guterres of anti-Semitism after he called on the Security Council to act in the Gaza war in a rare move. Jair Lapid writes on Platform “Not when half a million people were killed in Syria, more than four million killed in Congo, 450,000 slaughtered in Darfur, or when tens of thousands were killed and millions fled in Ukraine.”
Lapid further writes: “Only when Israel is defending itself, after our children have been murdered by brutal terrorists and our people taken hostage, does the UN Secretary General suddenly decide to use Article 99 to help Hamas. How do we know that? Anti-Semitism is? Because there is no other rational explanation.”
