The Office for the Protection of the Constitution in Saxony had classified the regional association as definitely right-wing extremist. The AfD now apparently wants to take action against it. But a decision is still pending.
The Saxon AfD is considering a lawsuit against its classification as a confirmed right-wing extremist effort. It was very likely that legal action would be taken, according to circles in the state parliamentary group. But a decision has not yet been made.
The State Office for the Protection of the Constitution in Saxony classified the state association of the AfD in Saxony accordingly last Friday. This had already happened before in Thuringia and Saxony-Anhalt.
Thuringia was the first federal state where the Office for the Protection of the Constitution took this step. In the Free State, the AfD and its state leader Björn Höcke had already been classified as firmly right-wing extremist in March 2021. The Thuringian AfD has not yet taken legal action against this classification, but has only announced that it will have individual passages from the 2021 Constitutional Protection Report examined by the courts.
