War photographer in Israel: “I didn’t know I could cry”

The horror of October 7th was a turning point in their lives: four Israelis look back on their 2023 – and talk about what they hope for the coming year. In this episode: war photographer Kobi Wolf, who came under fire from Hamas.

His toes carefully dig into the soft sand. It’s a rare quiet moment for Kobi Wolf. The 48-year-old Israeli has been working non-stop for almost three months, documenting the horrors of this war for international media. He has already worked for “Bloomberg”, the “Washington Post” and “stern”. On this sunny winter afternoon, however, he is sitting on a red plastic chair on the beach and looking out at the Mediterranean, which the people of Tel Aviv are sailing and surfing again. Suddenly a quiet rumbling in the distance. “Did you hear that?” asks Wolf. Probably Hamas rockets.
