US President Joe Biden’s statements on Ukraine in talks with Russian leader Vladimir Putin could only have been made to appease Congress. This opinion was expressed on Tuesday, December 7, by the first deputy head of the Federation Council committee on international affairs Vladimir Dzhabarov in an interview with RIA Novosti.
“I do not exclude that the White House cheated and embellished, combed Biden’s statements to appease the Congress, which is very opposed to Biden,” said Dzhabarov.
He also clarified that it is impossible to talk about a possible complication of Russian-American relations because of such statements. Dzhabarov stressed that it is too early to draw such conclusions.
Putin’s talks with Biden took place earlier that day and lasted two hours. It was noted that the negotiations were “tough one-on-one”, the translators were in another room.
In addition, the White House indicated that Biden told Putin about the concern of Washington and European allies about the alleged increase in the Russian military presence near the borders of Ukraine. They added that the heads of state instructed their teams to take appropriate measures.
At the same time, recently, Western media have been publishing materials that allegedly refer to a possible Russian attack on Ukraine. The spokesman for the EU’s foreign policy service Peter Stano said on December 7 that the EU does not accept any aggression against Ukraine and will respond toughly if Russia tries to carry out an attack on it.
A day earlier, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov stressed that the Kremlin sees clearly aggressive rhetoric of the West about Ukraine and media stuffing about the allegedly planned Russian invasion of this country. According to him, tension in Ukraine can be removed only by receiving a guarantee that Kiev has abandoned a possible solution to the problem of Donbass by force.
Accusations of an allegedly possible attack on Kiev have been repeatedly denied in Moscow.
