The membership in the United Russia party of the ex-head of the Kalininsky district of St. Petersburg Ivan Gromov will be suspended. This was reported on Tuesday, December 7, by the press service of the regional branch of the party.
Earlier that day, it became known about the detention of Gromov in St. Petersburg. According to Izvestia, the official is suspected of embezzling more than 150 million rubles. According to preliminary information, we are talking about the period when Gromov served as head of the informatization committee.
The decision to suspend membership in United Russia will be made at the next meeting of the local political council, Fontanka reports.
On the eve of Gromov filed a letter of resignation of his own free will. His request was satisfied by the Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov.
Gromov was appointed to the post of head of the Kalininsky district on November 12. Prior to that, he served as head of the Petrograd district administration for five years. Gromov also served as chairman of the Committee for Informatization and Communications.
