Extremism: investigation into TV report on threats against Kretschmer

According to a report, Saxony’s Prime Minister is threatened by members of the “Dresden Offline Networking” group because of his corona policy. Now the police are investigating.

After threats against Saxony’s Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer (CDU) in a Telegram chat group, the police and the public prosecutor’s office are investigating.

The State Criminal Police Office (LKA) Saxony announced on Wednesday that there was a suspicion of criminal offense against the group “Dresden Offline Networking” and its members. The Central Office for Extremism Saxony of the General Public Prosecutor’s Office in Dresden checked which allegations were possible. The basis of the investigation is therefore a report by the ZDF program “Frontal21”, which reported on Tuesday evening about statements on murder plans with a view to the Saxon Prime Minister.

Rejection of the corona policy

For the contribution, journalists of the Telegram group joined under a false name. Its 103 members combine the rejection of vaccinations, the state and the current corona policy, the editorial team said. In voice messages from the chat group that were displayed in the post, members of “Dresden Offline Networking” called for armed violence.

“Statements by individual members about the alleged possession of sharp weapons and crossbows are included in the assessment,” the LKA now announced. The investigation is carried out by the Police Terrorism and Extremism Defense Center with its special right-wing extremism commission in the LKA.
