Marine Le Pen is France’s leading right-wing politician; her party is allied with the AfD. Now she criticizes the Germans. Reason: Their role in secret meetings in Potsdam and the deportation plans.
The head of the French right-wing party Rassemblement National, Marine Le Pen, wants to talk to the AfD about the controversial conference in Potsdam, which is said to have been about mass deportations. The French politician said in Paris that she sees herself in clear contradiction to what was said to have been discussed there.
Le Pen: “Important differences” with the AfD
“We will have to discuss such important differences together and see whether these differences have an impact on our ability to unite in a group or not,” she said, referring to the current group community in the European Parliament (EP). This is primarily about ideas about a so-called remigration policy. She absolutely disagrees with this.
According to a report by the research collective Correctiv, the mass deportation of migrants from Germany was discussed at the conference, which was attended by right-wing extremists as well as AfD officials and CDU members.
AfD: Plans affect rejected asylum seekers
The AfD denies this and emphasizes that it was not about deportations, but about deportations of rejected asylum seekers. The report triggered large demonstrations against right-wing extremism in many German cities.
The RN and AfD belong together to the right-wing Identity and Democracy faction, whose members also include the Lega in Italy and the FPÖ in Austria. Le Pen wants to make another attempt to win the presidential election in France in 2027.
