Norma Anderson has experienced a lot in her almost 92 years: the Great Depression, the Second World War, the wars in Korea and Vietnam, the financial crisis, school massacres, the Corona epidemic. But nothing shocked the lifelong Republican as what she saw on television on January 6, 2021: Trump supporters storming the Capitol in Washington.
“I was sitting at home, here on this sofa, and I immediately knew who was to blame,” she says. “Trump didn’t call the National Guard for help. He sat in the White House and enjoyed the pictures. He must never be president again. Otherwise our democracy will be over.”
