In line with the more personal setting – and hiking outfit – Kickl did not do justice to his image as a rhetoric bully.
But Kickl admitted that he likes to come to a head and declared: “The worst thing is a politician who does nothing because he does not attract any attention.” In addition, he does not allow “the territory of what can be said” to be limited. Kickl then described the government’s planned climate protection measures as a “cover for a major attack on Austrian taxpayers”. The protection of nature is important, but in many cases the measures are “out of relation” to their effects.
The same applies to Corona, said the FP chairman, who severely criticized the government’s “house-and-yard virologists”: “Science is already further.” In his following remarks that an illness is “harmless” for a “normally healthy person”, he must have forgotten about the difficult course of FP state party leader Manfred Haimbuchner. He criticized that the government wanted to “drive people into the vaccination”. Finally, Kickl named August Wginger as his favorite colleague from another party – “He always provides entertainment” – and came out as a Metallica fan: “I’ve been listening to them since my youth.”
