Cuba is an ally of North Korea. Although ruler Kim Jong Un described South Korea as enemy state number one, the Caribbean state and South Korea have resumed diplomatic relations.
Cuba and South Korea have resumed diplomatic relations after more than 60 years. This was done through the exchange of diplomatic notes between the representations of the two countries at the United Nations in New York, both states said.
Cuba and East Asian South Korea had broken off relations after the Cuban Revolution of 1959. The Caribbean state of Cuba is an ally of North Korea – both states are ruled authoritarianly by communists. North Korea’s leader Kim Jong Un describes South Korea as enemy state number one.
