Russia is once again massively bombarding its neighboring country with rockets and cruise missiles. There are victims and damage in different regions.
Kiev/Lviv/Zaporizhia – Russia has once again massively attacked Ukraine with missiles in almost all parts of the country. The Ukrainian Air Force said the air defense was able to intercept almost half of a total of 26 missiles at night and early Thursday morning. The Russians used, among other things, six Iskander ballistic missiles, of which only one could be shot down in time.
Casualties and damage to civilian objects were reported from several parts of the country. According to authorities, a 67-year-old woman was killed in the eastern Kharkiv region. Three injuries were reported from Lviv in western Ukraine. According to the Ministry of Energy, a transformer station there was also severely damaged. As a result, an unspecified infrastructure object was without power, it said. A total of around ten rockets were fired at the region alone, Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadowyj wrote on Telegram.
The Zaporizhia region in the southeast also reported hits. According to authorities, six people were injured and several homes were destroyed. In the area surrounding the capital Kiev, half a dozen residential buildings were also damaged by falling rocket debris.
Damage to civilian objects
There were also explosions in the Khmelnytskyi, Poltava and Dnipropetrovsk regions. The military administration in Khmelnytskyi confirmed damage to civilian objects and said at least three people were injured. Military Governor Filip Pronin said it hit a camp in the Poltava region, causing a fire to break out. There are no deaths or injuries.
“The enemy is attacking civilian infrastructure objects,” wrote the military governor of Dnipropetrovsk, Serhiy Lyssak, on his Telegram channel, but did not provide any information about possible damage. Ukrainian air defense had previously spotted cruise missiles in the region.
Since the invasion began almost two years ago, Russia has repeatedly attacked civilian targets in the hinterland of Ukraine. Energy systems are often the target. According to experts, the attacks serve to break Ukrainians’ will to resist.
