Health Minister Wolfgang Mückstein (Greens) will again push for mandatory PCR tests for travelers from risk areas. In the opinion of the Minister of Health, an expansion of the risk areas could also be necessary. Whether further measures will be necessary is the subject of deliberations in the Ministry of Health. In any case, the task force will meet on Thursday morning at cabinet level.
Last week, following the deliberations of the task force, the government agreed on tightening the nighttime catering. From July 22nd, entry will only be allowed for vaccinated people or for those who can show a negative PCR test. Contrary to the original plans, the obligation to register at events and in the catering trade remains in effect.
On Monday yesterday, the government also announced stricter controls in restaurants to comply with the 3G rules. In future, the authorities will also be able to punish more quickly, as the executive can now also issue mandates to bodies.
The seven-day incidence was most recently 24.6 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. In a policy brief on the risk assessment of the delta variant, the Covid forecast consortium recommended the reintroduction of various measures such as the FFP2 mask requirement from a threshold value of a risk-adjusted seven-day incidence of 25.
