On Christmas Day, Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit one of the temples. On December 16, the press secretary of the head of state Dmitry Peskov told reporters about this.
“There will be a temple,” RIA Novosti quotes a Kremlin spokesman.
Which temple Putin will visit on Christmas, Peskov did not specify.
Last Christmas night, the President attended a service at the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker on Lipno Island in the east of Lake Ilmen, 8 km from Veliky Novgorod. The Russian leader presented the church with an icon of the Lord Almighty.
The head of state appeared at the temple a few minutes before midnight. Several dozen parishioners were at the service with him.
Putin traditionally attends services on major Orthodox holidays. The President usually celebrates Christmas in churches outside the capital. On Easter, he usually comes to worship at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior.
