Karl Lauterbach is the talk show king in 2021 and sets a new record

You have the impression that whenever you turn on a political talk show, Karl Lauterbach is sitting there? Also true! At least by a long way no one has been with Lanz, Illner and Co. as often as the new Minister of Health. A media magazine has counted.

The fact that Karl Lauterbach is the talk show king in 2021 should come as no surprise to anyone who has watched the four leading TV political talk shows even occasionally in the past twelve months. But everything dwarfs the sheer number of appearances of the new Federal Minister of Health on Anne Will (ARD), Frank Plasberg (ARD, “Hart, aber fair”), Sandra Maischberger (ARD) and Maybrit Illner (ZDF): No less than 29 – Once, as the media magazine “Meedia” counted, the Rhinelander sat there and shared his knowledge of the coronavirus and the pandemic with the audience – and that doesn’t even count the countless guest appearances at the late-night talker Markus Lanz (ZDF)!

With the 29 appearances, the doctor and health economist doubled his mark from last year and pulverized all previous records of the talk show permanent guests. Lauterbach’s 14 appearances in 2020 were also a new record, which he had to share with Merkel’s confidante Peter Altmaier (CDU). Before that, the new Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck (Greens) had entered the record list with 13 appearances in 2018.

Karl Lauterbach: A number never seen before

Habeck is in third place with eleven appearances this year and even with this number on par with previous annual winners. This also underlines once again how enormous the number of Lauterbach appearances was in 2021. However, there was a lot of discussion overall in this Corona and election year, and with “proven” staff – to the CSU boss Markus Söder and the journalists: Melanie Amann (“Der Spiegel”), Robin Alexander and Dagmar Rosenfeld (both “The world) counted. Bitter from a sporting point of view: 14 appearances that would have been enough for the” annual victory “last year and in all previous years, this time FDP boss and new finance minister Christian Lindner was only enough for second place.
