Putin called sanctions a competitive tool

Sanctions restrictions have become an instrument of competition. This was announced on December 17 by Russian President Vladimir Putin at a plenary session of the XXX anniversary congress of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, announced the increased requirements for revaccination.

As an example, Putin cited the situation with the newest Russian airliner MS-21, which, due to sanctions, was deprived of imported wing components. Russia eventually developed the necessary technologies, but the production of the aircraft and its introduction to the market shifted.

“It is absolutely obvious that this is an instrument of unfair competition. And they will do the same on other issues, ”the president added.

As the head of state emphasized, Russia must promptly respond to any challenges. There will always be a reason for them, the president concluded.

Earlier on Friday, the press secretary of the head of state Dmitry Peskov said that the imposition of sanctions against Russia was not legal from the point of view of international law. Moscow, in response to the current restrictions, will mirror the extension of the set of countermeasures.

On December 16, the European Parliament at a plenary session adopted a resolution calling on the EU to prepare for the imposition of sanctions against Russia in the event of the country’s aggression against Ukraine. 548 parliamentarians voted for the resolution, 69 opposed, 54 abstained.

As First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs Vladimir Dzhabarov told Izvestia, the extension of restrictions is a routine procedure that is repeated every six months.

The economic sanctions of the European Union are directed against the financial, energy and defense sectors of the Russian Federation. For example, for a number of Russian banks and companies, access to the primary and secondary capital markets of the EU is limited, a ban has been introduced on the import and export of weapons and dual-use goods. Among other things, the European Union has limited access to a number of technologies and services for oil production and exploration.
