It is a frightening picture that Britain’s conservatives are currently painting of their kingdom. Prime Minister Sunak talks about MPs hiding in safe rooms for fear of attacks. Entire neighborhoods in Birmingham and east London have become “off-limits areas” for non-Muslims, MP Paul Scully said recently. Lee Anderson, until recently deputy leader of the Tories, said London Mayor Sadiq Khan had “handed over control of the British capital to his Islamist cronies.” Former Prime Minister Liz Truss rumored that the economy and politics were actually controlled by a dark “state within the state”.
